
Lets' Talk About It
The Power To Be, LLC will provide educational programs that cover various areas of interpersonal violence and help participants learn the effects of trauma on the brain along with healthy coping mechanisms and ways to move towards a path of healing and restoration with a series of workshops entitled: Let’s Talk About It. In each workshop a different area of interpersonal violence will be explored, warning signs associated with it will be identified and resources will be shared and explained.
Workshops and Programs
Latinidad
Latinidad is a program where participants will explore the roots of their cultural backgrounds, take part in art projects that celebrate and honor indigenous ancestry, and learn more about how their ethnicity influences their identity. Each workshop will provide an opportunity for cultural discussion, expression, and exploration, and end with a chance for participants to share what they’ve learned and uncovered about themselves. Afrolatinidad is a Latino identity that celebrates African ancestry. Participants will explore intersectionality and be provided the opportunity to learn more about their heritage and history. This program can be adapted for any cultural background or any participants seeking more insight into their identities
More Than Enough
More Than Enough is a socio-emotional program where participants will explore their strengths and talents. They will celebrate what makes them unique and be given different exercises that will help them identify positive qualities and characteristics. In the end, participants will be able to articulate those positive traits and characteristics and use those skills to practice interviewing for future opportunities. They will participate in character development activities and learn how positive outlooks can lead to future success and be given the opportunity to appear on my podcast or learn what it takes to create one of their own along with the importance of advocacy.
All of these programs and topic areas address different areas of mental health. They will help participants develop healthier relationships with themselves and others. They will learn that they are so much more than the negative events that have taken place in their lives, and they will learn how to advocate for themselves and others. Programs can be adjusted to meet the mental health needs of specific groups, schools or organizations and can be delivered in English or Spanish.
Cultured Conversations
Cultured Conversations is a program where participants will explore their cultural identities and learn more about their ethnicities and histories. Participants will also be introduced to the power of privilege, the concept of intersectionality and the commonalities/differences that exist amongst cultural groups. A variety of art modalities will be applied in the areas of visual art, poetry and digital art while giving participants the opportunity to learn more about themselves and one another. Participants will also learn about the connection between cultural background and identity by exploring values, debunking myths and confronting stereotypes. Participants will then discuss how they plan to apply this knowledge in their everyday world.
